Living in Harmony with Wetlands
Wetlands do so many things – not only for us, but also for plants, animals, and the land. Discover the functions and values of wetlands and how to help ensure that wetlands are maintained so that they can continue to help us live in harmony with the land and our natural resources from the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service’s website.

FLORIDA WATERS - A Water Resources Manual
This joint project of Florida’s five water management districts, is a comprehensive, easy to read resource guide. Details such topics as: Water’s Structure / Water’s Amazing Properties, Global Water Cycle, Water Cycle in Florida, Weather and Climate (Floods and Droughts / Storms), The Global Picture (El Nino and La Nino / Global Warming), Watersheds, Aquifers, Sinkholes, Springs, Rivers, Lakes, Wetlands, Estuaries ... and more.

World Water Monitoring Day
Join thousands of volunteer monitors around the globe in this important water awareness event. On October 18, 2005, citizens of the global community will join in World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD), a worldwide opportunity to positively impact the health of rivers, lakes, estuaries and other waterbodies. Volunteer monitoring groups, water quality agencies, students, and the general public are invited to test four key indicators of water quality: temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. Monitor with your class, family, friends, or other volunteers and be part of something BIG.

Karst Features and Hydrogeology in West-central Florida -- A Field Perspective
The Floridan aquifer system is the principal aquifer in Florida... The high productivity of this aquifer is due to the development of secondary porosity caused by dissolution or karst processes. Karst processes characteristically develop zones of enhanced porosity within carbonate rocks creating a highly heterogeneous aquifer system with rapid rates of ground-water movement and recharge. This field guide highlights the karst features of west-central Florida and the geologic units of the region that define the hydrogeologic framework and influence ground-water flow and transport. Providing an opportunity to examine various karst features typical of Florida, especially in the context of their susceptibility to impact from land- and water-resource development activities.
