Kids Fishing Clinics: June 28 and July 19, 2006
TOOFAR hosted its first kids fishing clinic in conjunction with the Parks & Recreation Program. Each clinic had 40 to 45 children. It was held at Wallace Brooks Park, June 28 and July 19, 2006 from 9:30 to 12:15. Fishing equipment was provided for the kids to use. The kids received instruction, and then using what they learned, went fishing!
If you would like to learn more about the program, please contact the office at 726-5004 or by email: toofarinc@earthlink.net or call Rol Steinhauser, one of our newest board members, at (352) 344-0618. Rol has taught fishing programs for many years in Illinois before retiring to Citrus County. Were pleased to have him on board.
Thank you to everyone involved who volunteered who helped show the children how to fish, who volunteered their time materials, skills and expertise to help plan, prepare and implement this program... it was a big success.
Thanks to: Duane for making the bump boards, Jan & Jerry for painting them. To Jan, Karen, Betty, Lolly, Leslie & Mary for sewing and painting the stuffed fish needed for part of the program. To Frank, Bud & Bob for making the fish hooks. To the Grubmans for helping prepare the rods and reels etc
Also, special thanks to Lolly Adkison for the posters she is making. And also to Ace Hardware in Hernando for providing the yardsticks for the bump boards, at no cost.

These are just a few of the many jobs that are done in preparing for this event.
If you were not able to attend this year, you missed quite an experience. See you next year! |
