Florida Defenders of the Environment
Florida Defenders of the Environment is one of the oldest and most accomplished conservation organizations in Florida, with a history of protecting Floridas natural resources. Best known for its work halting the construction of the wasteful and ecologically destructive Cross Florida Barge Canal, FDE was formed in 1969 by a coalition of scientists, economists and lawyers who volunteered their time and expertise to try to improve the quality of decision-making affecting Floridas environment.
